This is a book you will be glad you read. Described as “A Memoir of faith, desire and freedom” it is the true story of a girl brought up in the cult of Jehovah’s Witness.
As a three year old she was sent ahead of her mother and sister to door knock and offer the Watchtower magazine, a requirement of the movement to be missionaries of the faith. From a very young age she is torn by the conflict between what is believable, and what one wants to believe. There is always the threat of being found wanting when the last days arrive.
As she grows into adulthood the conflict deepens. While members of Jehovah’s Witness may drink alcohol and dance in moderation, a blood transfusion is banned, a matter of great concern to her as she is about to give birth to her first child.
A panel of elders investigating her sexual misconduct, ask such perverted questions as Where were your hands? Where were his hands? And sit in judgement as though God gave them that right.
The domination by men within this sect, the motivation of money at it’s roots, and the manipulation of people using faith as a means to do so, will enlighten you and your friends as you recommend this book to them.
